The acceptance tests of the emergency power plants for Novovoronezh NPP were performed
During the tests each of the three power plants has operated for 72 hours under continuous loads. The tests have shown that the power plants fully comply with the Customer technical requirements and strict international and Russian technical demands placed on the nuclear power facilities. The power plants are completely ready for industrial operation.
The project provides for 4 emergency and 2 redundant diesel power plants with a total capacity of 36 MW based on diesel generators 20V 956 TB33. The diesel power plants supply power to the security systems and are meant for enabling operation of the power unit’s main equipment if the emergency protection systems trigger. The power plant includes also the auxiliary systems and components both of domestic and foreign manufacturers.
ZVEZDA-ENERGETIKA, OJSC has worked under this project for a considerable time, during which the project and design documentation has been developed by the Company specialists. All supplied equipment is permitted for use at the nuclear facilities. The Company specialists have worked hard to obtain licenses and certification for the appropriate hazardous operations at the nuclear facilities, including a license for working with information classified as the state secret. Two redundant diesel power plants comply with IV security class, four diesel power plants of the emergency power supply system – with class II0.
Novovoronezh NPP located in 42 km from Voronezh has been operated from 1964. The second phase of the nuclear power plant is built close to the existing NPP. A capacity of each reactor unit of the new power plant will make 1150 MW.
